Welcome to Viever. We understand that you are trusting us with sensitive family information. Our "Privacy-First" commitment means we only collect what is necessary to help you coordinate care and keep your loved ones sharp.
1. Information We Collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
a. Account Information
- Name
- Email address
- Login credentials or sign-in details (including Google Sign-In, if used)
- User type (for example, user or carer)
b. Health and Wellness Information You Choose to Enter
- Mood check-ins
- Appointment details and reminder settings
- Activity history, meditation sessions, and game progress
- Emergency contact details
- Care-linking information between a user and a carer
c. Device and App Information
- App settings and preferences
- Notification token/device token for push notifications
- Subscription tier/status
- Basic technical information needed to operate and secure the app
d. Optional Data
If you choose to use certain features, we may also process:
- Location data for location sharing
- Camera/scanned images/files for QR linking, and for medical documents (scans, X-rays, lab reports, doctor's notes, and prescriptions) you choose to save to Medical History Log
- Calendar event details if you choose to sync reminders to Google Calendar or another calendar app
How Our AI Scan Features Handle Your Data
Viever uses Google's Gemini models, via Google's Vertex AI, to power its AI Scan features. What happens to your photo afterwards depends on which feature you use:
- Quick vitals scans (reading a blood pressure or glucose meter): the photo is processed in real time to extract the reading, and is never uploaded or stored anywhere. It is not retained after the reading is extracted.
- Medical History Log (scans, X-rays, lab reports, doctor's notes, and prescriptions you choose to add to your medical history): the photo is sent to Google's Vertex AI to extract a summary and key details, and the original image is then retained in your private Viever account — stored in your Firebase Cloud Storage, accessible only to you and any carer you've linked — so you can refer back to the original document later. This image is not automatically deleted, but you (the account owner) can delete an individual entry at any time from within Medical History Log — see Section 8. To keep the medical record accountable, a linked carer who adds an entry cannot delete it themselves; only you can.
- No Training: regardless of feature, your medical documents, notes, and family conversations are never used to train AI models.
All AI-assisted features in Viever use Google's Vertex AI, operated under Google Cloud's Data Processing Addendum. Your data is processed only to generate a response for you and is never used to train AI models.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide mood tracking, reminders, appointment reminders, and activity history
- Enable linking between a user and an approved carer
- Send notifications and reminders you request
- Sync data across your devices and your linked care experience
- Support optional exports such as reports or calendar files
- Manage subscriptions and plan access
- Improve app stability, security, and performance
3. How Your Information Is Stored
Viever uses a combination of:
- Local device storage to store app preferences and certain activity data on your phone
- Cloud services such as Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Storage, Messaging, and related services to support sign-in, syncing, notifications, and secure app functionality
Reasonable steps are taken to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure. For more detail, see our Data Safety page.
Where Your Information Is Processed
Viever is based in Melbourne, Australia, and we've configured our core infrastructure to keep your data within Australia wherever our cloud provider supports it: your account database is hosted in an Australian region (Australia Southeast), and AI Scan processing (via Google's Vertex AI) is also configured to run in an Australian region.
Some supporting services are inherently global and may process limited data outside Australia as part of how they operate — for example, push notification delivery (Apple/Google), authentication infrastructure, crash and error reporting, and subscription billing through app store providers and RevenueCat. Where this occurs, it is governed by Google Cloud's Data Processing Addendum or the relevant provider's own data protection terms, consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8 (cross-border disclosure of personal information).
4. When We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information only in the following cases:
- With linked carers/users when you explicitly enable care-linking features
- With service providers that help operate the app, such as Firebase/Google Cloud and subscription/billing platforms
- With calendar or sharing apps if you choose to export or sync appointments/reminders
- When required by law or to protect safety, rights, or security
5. Notifications, Permissions, and Optional Features
The app may request permissions such as:
- Notifications for medication and appointment reminders
- Location for optional location sharing
- Camera or file access for scanning QR codes, selecting images, or exporting reports
- Calendar sharing/sync only when you choose to create or export calendar events
These features are optional unless needed for a core function you choose to use.
6. Subscription and Payment Information
If you purchase a paid tier, subscription processing may be handled by app store billing providers and subscription platforms such as RevenueCat. Viever does not store your full payment card details directly.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as needed to: provide the app and its features, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our terms. Some limited technical records or backups may remain for a reasonable period after deletion.
8. Deleting Your Data and Account
You may request deletion of your data in the following ways:
a. In-App Account Deletion
You can delete your account from within the app by going to the relevant Profile section and selecting Delete Account. The app may ask you to re-enter your password to confirm. When account deletion is completed: your account access is removed, local app data on the device is cleared, and we take steps to remove or de-identify associated cloud data tied to your account, subject to technical, backup, fraud-prevention, or legal retention requirements.
b. Removing Specific Data
You may also update or remove certain records within the app, such as appointments, mood entries, linked-care settings, reminders, and individual Medical History Log entries (scans, X-rays, lab reports, doctor's notes, and prescriptions). If you exported or synced data to a third-party calendar or another app, you may also need to delete that data directly from that third-party service.
c. Support Request
If you need help deleting your account or data, contact us.
9. Your Choices
You can generally:
- Update profile information
- Turn notifications on or off in device settings
- Revoke permissions such as location or camera access
- Unlink a carer/user relationship
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
10. Children's Privacy
Viever is not intended for use by children without appropriate supervision and consent where required. If you believe personal data has been provided improperly, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date. Continued use of the app after updates means you accept the revised policy.
